¿Are they open?
Yes, we are open and we have all the established biosecurity protocols in place. As part of these protocols, we only attend to guests with advance reservations for any of our services: accommodation, activities, or restaurant.
¿Do you accept pets?
We love animals, but we are a conservation refuge adjacent to Cotopaxi National Park, a protected area with its own rules for visitors. Therefore, we cannot accept pets.
¿Do you have a camping area?
No, we have three accommodation options within our facilities.
¿What clothes should I bring?
For your visit to the páramo, we recommend dressing in layers with warm and versatile clothing. It’s important to protect yourself against the cold, wind, and moisture when outdoors.
¿What type of vehicle is most suitable for visiting El Porvenir?
You can reach El Porvenir in any vehicle. The road is paved for 21 km, and the last few kilometers are gravel. It’s advisable to come in a higher vehicle, but a 4×4 is not necessary.
¿What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check-in: 3:00 PM
Check-out: 12:00 PM (noon)
¿What are the restaurant hours?
Breakfast: 7:30 AM to 9:30 AM
Lunch: 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM
Dinner: 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM
¿Do you have options for people with dietary restrictions?

¿What considerations should I take into account due to the altitude?
The Hacienda is located at 3600 meters (11,800 feet) above sea level. We suggest drinking plenty of fluids during your stay. If you experience headaches, digestive issues, or dizziness, please let us know. These are normal symptoms of acclimatization and typically subside after a few days at altitude. Our shop has oxygen tanks available for purchase if needed.
¿Do I need to bring any special equipment for the activities?
We provide all the technical equipment for the activities. It is recommended to bring personal items such as waterproof jackets and pants, a hat or cap, sunglasses, and gloves.
¿Can I book the activities upon arrival?
Yes, you can, but we cannot guarantee availability. We recommend booking your activities in advance, especially if you are visiting during peak season or national holidays.
¿What is the nearest medical center?
In Machachi, located 21 km from Hacienda El Porvenir, is the nearest town. Machachi has a public hospital that provides basic medical services, ambulance service, and paramedics. Severe emergencies should be handled in Quito.
